Anupam Kher - Biography 

Anupam Kher was born on 7th march 1955, Shimla, Punjab State, India, in Kashmiri Pandit family. His father Pushkarnath Kher and mother Dulari Kher. He made his debut in acting with 1971 film "Tiger Sixteen" in which he played the role of Mr. Prem. And also won "India Classic Awards" for best actor in this film. Also he made his debut in Bollywood with Muzaffar Ali's film "Aagman". He got filmfare 'Best Actor' award for this brilliant performance in "Saaransh" by veteran filmmaker Ramanand Sagar. When he was 30 years old finally he got married with actress Kirron Kher.

His most acclaimed role till date was the terrorist Dr. Gang in "Karma". He won national film award for special mention in "Daddy". Also won filmfare Critics award for best actor in this film, and won filmfare award for best comedian in "Darr". He also worked in production field and produce many films and tv shows. Also he made debut in TV with the host of reality game shows "Sawaal Dus Crore Ka". He ventured into directing field with "Om Jai Jagadish". His first debut in English movie with "Bend It Like Beckham" which is golden globe nominated. Also act in Bride and Prejudice, Misstress of Splces, Lust, Caution and many.... He was honoured with "Padma Shri" award by the indian president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He again won national film award for special mention in "Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara". When he was 55, appointed as the good will ambassador of the "Pratham Education Foundation".

After1 year he launch his book: " The Best Thing About You is ..... You". He acted in david 0. Russell's Oscar-Winning film "Silver Linings Playbook". Host his own show "The Anupam Kher Show-Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai" on colours. He was presented with the "Honoured Guest" award by the US state of Taxas contribution to cinema and art. Also he was honoured with "Padma Bhushan" award by the indian president Pranab Mukherjee.

He made his first Fiction production named "Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par". He was appointed as the new chairperson of India's premier Film and Television Institute(FTII), and he received "BAFTA" nomination in BBC TV for "The Boy with the Topknot". In this year he got " Kala Ratan Award" by the Indian Vice President Shri M. Hamid Ansari. He was honoured with "Lifetime Achievement Award" by IIFA for outstanding Achievement in cinema.

Now he is in biopic of Manmohan Shing in "The Accidental Prime Minister".
